A group of Parliamentary staffers from the Republic of Kyrgyzstan will present a cultural program on their country and its traditions on Thursday, Feb. 5 at Carroll College. Kyrgyzstan is a key sensitive country in central Asia between Kazakhstan, Russia and China. The climate and the geography are similar to Montana’s.

The Helena community is invited to attend the 4 p.m. presentation in the Sage Room of the Carroll College Corette Library. A reception with light refreshments will follow the event to allow time for delegates and community members to meet. WorldMontana, a nonprofit group that brings international visitors to Montana, is sponsoring the event, the first offered since WorldMontana came to Helena in October.

Open World, a national organization committed to citizen diplomacy and international understanding, sponsors the international delegation. WorldMontana, now located in the Artaza Center for Excellence in Global Education at Carroll College, will host the delegates Jan. 30 to Feb. 7 for a professional education program on government accountability. They will stay with Helena host families. The group will visit with legislative leaders, judges, local officials and community groups. Carroll political science professors Dr.  Jeremy Johnson and Dr. Alex Street will provide an overview of Montana politics and how the Montana Legislature works.  The group will also spend time with the state partnership program at the Montana Army National Guard at Fort Harrison.

New Artaza Director Cheri Long will meet with the group Monday Feb. 2 along with acting Vice President for Academic Affairs Cathy Day.
