ELLEN M. BUSH

Ellen made her first trip abroad when she was 16 and knew immediately she wanted to make more international trips. She was an exchange student in Finland the next summer and hosted a Yugoslavian student her senior year in high school.   She holds BSJ and MSJ degrees in Journalism, which lends well to her work with WorldMontana®.  Ellen began her partnership with WorldMontana® as a host parent in December 2013. She became the Executive Director in October 2014 when the office moved from Bozeman to Carroll College in Helena.

Before joining WorldMontana®, Ellen served as the executive director of CASA of Montana. Court Appointed Special Advocates are lay persons who speak for the best interest of the child in abuse and neglect cases. They are appointed by judges in Montana. For 10 years, Ellen was the director of the state network and worked with 15 local programs, the Supreme Court administration and many other nonprofits. She and her husband, Rick, launched the first Park-2-Park Montana bike from Glacier Park to Yellowstone Park in 2005. Ellen also holds a law degree from the University of Florida and is a lawyer in good standing with the Montana Bar.

Ellen traveled to Russia three times in 2013-2014 in her volunteer work with Wycliffe Russia, a nonprofit that does literacy and Bible translation work with a new focus on Native American languages in Siberia. In her free time, Ellen enjoys travel, biking, hiking and theatre.
