Twelve teenagers from Iraq arrive in Helena Saturday, July 9 to learn about leadership with an environmental focus. The program is coordinated by WorldMontana and sponsored by the U.S. Department of State’s Bureau of Educational and Cultural Affairs and World Learning.
The youths, ages 15 to 18, will stay with families in Helena and work on volunteer projects with Community Gardens, Helena Food Share, and Prickly Pear Land Trust.  The teens also will visit Yellowstone Park to learn about climate change, endangered species and to view the national features and to see bison, elk and bears.
They will work together on a presentation of their experiences in Montana and present the program at the Rotary Club meeting Wednesday, July 20. They will offer a presentation on life in Iraqi and experiences here in Montana at the Plymouth Congregational Church at 7 p.m. July 22.
The teens will depart on July 23.  For more information about their schedule while in Montana click here or contact Executive Director Ellen M. Bush at 447-4444 or by e-mail at ellen@worldmontana.org.
