Indigenous Peoples of Russia 2018

5 indigenous Russian delegates arrived to Montana on Feb 2nd-10th to study the Preservation of Indigenous Cultures and Languages. The program is sponsored by Open World. During their stay, the delegates had professional meetings and cultural events in Helena, Bozeman and Pablo. Some of the highlights of the program included meetings at the Salish Kootenai College, Office of the Commissioner of Higher Education, Montana Governor’s Office of Indian Affairs, Senator Daines’ Office, City Manager office, a trip Yellowstone National Park, guided tour of Montana Historical Society, POW WOW event at the Montana State Capitol, including a guided tour of the building by our WorldMontana® Board Member, Stephen Maly. The delegates stayed with our WorldMontana® host families in Helena, including during their visit to Bozeman. WorldMontana® staff and host families joined the farewell dinner hosted to say goodbye to our delegates and wish them all the best back home in Russia!

Carroll College had the honor of hosting a group of Japanese students for two weeks through ACCESS, an international student exchange program.  The Japanese students had the opportunity to learn about WorldMontana in a presentation by Executive Director, Sasha Fendrick and Board member, Ron Lukenbill. On another day WorldMontana took the students to BisonQuest Guest Ranch to experience a wild Montana bison herd. At the end of the visit, the Japanese students sat down to a meal that they had cooked alongside the Ranch staff.
